About the Game

Yarn Ball Pop is an original bubble-shooting puzzle from Kiwi Cat Games. At the bottom of the screen, the mascot Kiwi Cat launches colorful yarn balls with its paw toward a honeycomb of yarn balls at the top. A launched ball sticks when it touches others, and 3 or more of the same color connected together pop. Yarn balls cut off from the ceiling fall away in a cluster – the more that fall, the higher your score.

There are 24 levels with two kinds of goals. In Clear the Yarn, you pop every yarn ball before you run out of shots. In Rescue the Kittens, you knock out the yarn above tangled kittens so they drop free. Later levels add more colors and more rows, and in some levels the ceiling drops a row every few shots. Shots left over when you clear a level become bonus points, for up to 3 stars.

Want a change from levels? Try Endless mode: there's no shot limit, but every few shots a new row of yarn balls pushes down from the top – see how long you can last and how high you can score. Level progress, stars and your Endless best are saved in your browser. All the yarn balls, kittens and sounds were drawn and synthesized in code by Kiwi Cat Games, and each color of yarn has its own pattern, so it's playable even if colors are hard to tell apart.

How to Play Yarn Ball Pop

1. Press Start Game and pick a level from the list (only level 1 is open at first; each win unlocks the next), or jump straight into Endless mode.
2. Press and drag upward to show the aiming line, then let go and Kiwi Cat launches the yarn ball from its paw. Shoot at a wall and the ball bounces off it.
3. When the launched ball connects with 3 or more of the same color, they pop. Any yarn no longer connected to the ceiling falls in a cluster for double points.
4. The basket at the bottom left holds your next ball. Tap it to swap with the ball on the paw and shoot the color that's easier to match first.
5. Complete the goal (clear the yarn or rescue every kitten) before you run out of shots to win. If the yarn reaches the dashed line at the bottom, you lose.

Controls

Phone and tablet

• Press and drag toward where you want to shoot. The aiming line shows the path, including the first wall bounce. Let go to shoot.
• Move your finger back below the paw before letting go to cancel the shot.
• Tap the ball in the bottom-left basket (or the one on the paw) to swap the current and next balls.
• Top left goes back to the level list; top right pauses or mutes.

Computer

• Move the mouse to aim – the aiming line appears on screen – and click to shoot.
• Click the ball in the bottom-left basket to swap. Keyboard works too: ← → to aim, Space or ↑ to shoot, ↓ to swap.

Tips and Strategy

• Aim for yarn near the ceiling with a big cluster hanging below it. Break that connection and the whole cluster drops, scoring far more than popping one at a time.
• The aiming line shows the first wall bounce. To reach a blocked corner, try shooting off a side wall.
• If the color in hand is hard to use, swap with the basket first. If neither works, place the ball next to matching yarn so your next shot can complete a set of 3.
• On kitten-rescue levels you don't need to clear everything – just break the yarn between each kitten and the ceiling and the kitten drops free.
• On levels where the ceiling drops, watch the dashed line at the bottom and deal with the lowest yarn first, especially later in the level.
• In Endless mode, the dots at the top count down to the next row. Clear the bottom yarn before it pushes down.
