Kiwi Cat Goes Fishing

About the Game

Kiwi Cat Goes Fishing is an original casual fishing game from Kiwi Cat Games. Kiwi Cat sits in a little orange boat with its fishing line dangling into the lake. Hold the screen and the hook sinks; let go and it reels back up. Drag left and right to move the boat. When the hook touches a fish, it's hooked, and Kiwi Cat automatically pulls it up for points.

There are five kinds of fish: small fry and orange fish near the surface, big purple fish in the middle, goldfish down deep, and the rare kiwi fish – the deeper they swim, the more they're worth. Some things you don't want to catch: an old boot or an empty can costs you 3 seconds, and a yellow pufferfish bites through the line, costs 5 seconds and lets your fish escape. Catch 3 or more in a row and your points are multiplied by 1.5.

Each game lasts 60 seconds – see how many points you can reel in. Your high score is saved in your browser. All fish, the boat, the lake and the sounds were drawn and synthesized in code by Kiwi Cat Games.

Controls

Phone and tablet

• Hold the screen to lower the hook and let go to reel in. While holding, drag left and right to move the boat.
• Top right pauses the game or mutes the sound.

Computer

• Hold the mouse button to lower the hook and release to reel in. Move the mouse to steer the boat.
• Keyboard works too: Space or Down lowers the hook; the left and right arrows (or A and D) move the boat.

Tips and Strategy

• Goldfish and kiwi fish only show up deep down, and each one is worth several small fish – it's worth sinking to find them.
• Pufferfish puff up and have spikes. When you see one, reel the hook up and wait for it to swim past.
• Fish swim side to side. Move the boat to where a fish is heading and wait for it rather than chasing it.
• Catching 3 or more in a row gives 1.5× points, so try not to hook junk and break your streak.
