About the Game

Yarn Ball Toss is an original casual tossing game from Kiwi Cat Games. Kiwi Cat sits on a little living-room rug with a pink yarn ball on its head, and across the room hangs a woven basket with cat ears. Pull back with your finger or mouse like a slingshot and let go to send the yarn ball flying. The farther you pull, the stronger the throw, and the first part of the flight path is shown on screen.

A basket scores 1 point, and a “swish” that doesn't touch the rim scores 2. Make 3 or more in a row and every basket earns a bonus. After each basket, the basket moves to a new spot. After 6 baskets it starts sliding side to side, after 10 the wind picks up – check the wind indicator at the top right and adjust your power – and the basket keeps getting smaller.

Each game gives you 3 misses: every time the yarn ball hits the floor, you lose one, and when they're gone the game is over. See how many points you can get. Your high score is saved in your browser. All art and sound were drawn and synthesized in code by Kiwi Cat Games.

How to Play Yarn Ball Toss

1. Press Start Game. Kiwi Cat has a yarn ball on its head.
2. Press anywhere on the screen and pull down and to the left. You'll see a power bar and the first part of the flight path.
3. Let go to throw. The farther you pull, the stronger the throw.
4. Land the yarn ball in the basket to score. A swish that misses the rim scores double, and streaks add bonuses.
5. Every time the yarn ball hits the floor you lose a chance. Use all 3 and the game ends.

Controls

Phone and tablet

• Press and pull back with your finger, then let go to throw – like a slingshot.
• Top right pauses the game or mutes the sound.

Computer

• Click, pull back and release to throw.
• Keyboard works too: left and right arrows adjust the angle, up and down adjust power, Space or Enter throws.
• Top right pauses the game or mutes the sound.

Tips and Strategy

• Throw higher. A yarn ball dropping into the basket from above goes in more easily than one flying in flat.
• Only the first part of the path is shown, so remember the power and angle of your last throw and adjust slightly.
• When the basket is moving, watch its rhythm first and throw as it heads toward you.
• When it's windy, check the arrow and number at the top right: pull a little less with a tailwind and a little more into a headwind.
