About the Game

Kiwi Cat Sky Hop is an original one-tap casual game from Kiwi Cat Games starring the site mascot, Kiwi Cat. A kiwi-slice balloon is tied to its ear, and it floats over the apartment rooftops of a Taiwanese city while the screen scrolls to the right on its own.

The whole game uses a single action: tap and Kiwi Cat hops up; stop tapping and the balloon slowly drifts down. Bamboo laundry poles on the rooftops are hung with shirts, towels and socks, with a gap between the upper and lower rows. Pass through a gap to score 1 point, and grab the occasional fish snack for 2 more. The higher your score, the faster the scrolling and the narrower the gaps, and the sky shifts from day to dusk to night.

A game takes about 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Reach 10, 25 and 50 points to earn bronze, silver and gold paw medals, and your high score is saved in your browser. All characters, scenery and sounds were drawn and synthesized in code by Kiwi Cat Games.

How to Play Kiwi Cat Sky Hop

1. Press Start Game. Kiwi Cat hovers on its kiwi balloon and waits for your first tap.
2. Tap the screen (or press Space) and Kiwi Cat hops up. Stop tapping and it slowly drifts down.
3. Fly through the gap between the upper and lower laundry lines for 1 point each. Fish snacks are worth 2 extra points.
4. Touch the laundry, fall onto a rooftop or fly off the top of the screen and the game ends.
5. Earn a bronze paw at 10 points, silver at 25 and gold at 50, and chase your high score.

Controls

Phone and tablet

• Tap anywhere on the screen and Kiwi Cat hops up.
• Without taps it slowly drifts down, so control your height with the rhythm of your taps.
• It plays best with your phone held upright; the screen scales automatically.
• Top right pauses the game or mutes the sound.

Computer

• Press Space, ↑ or W to hop.
• You can also click the game screen.
• Holding the key doesn't keep you rising – press once per hop.
• Top right pauses the game or mutes the sound.

Tips and Strategy

• Don't tap too fast. Each tap lifts Kiwi Cat about one body height, so rapid tapping easily bumps you into the laundry above.
• Remember the balloon sits above Kiwi Cat's head and can snag on clothes too. Passing slightly below the middle of a gap is safest.
• Look ahead to where the next gap is and adjust early. If the next one is higher, start rising while you're still in the current gap.
• Fish snacks are worth 2 points, but skip them if they're in an awkward spot – getting through the laundry comes first.
