About the Game

Yarn Twist is an original connection puzzle from Kiwi Cat Games. Every square on the board holds a piece of yarn: straight pieces, bends, three-way junctions, and ends tied to a fish, a toy mouse or a bell. Tap a square and its yarn turns 90° clockwise. Starting from Kiwi Cat in the middle with its ball of yarn, connected yarn turns pink and the toys light up.

To clear a level, every square must connect back to Kiwi Cat, and every yarn end must join its neighbor with nothing left dangling. There's no limit on levels; boards grow from 4×4 up to 8×10. Each level is made by first growing a complete, fully connected yarn network and then scrambling it, so it can always be solved.

Long-press (or right-click on a computer) to lock a square you're sure is right, so you don't turn it by accident. Stuck? Press Hint to turn one square correctly and lock it. The fewer taps you use, the more stars you earn. Progress is saved in your browser, and all art and sound were drawn and synthesized in code by Kiwi Cat Games.

How to Play Yarn Twist

1. Press Start Game, then choose Continue to play your current level or pick any unlocked level from the list.
2. Tap a square and its yarn turns 90° clockwise.
3. Starting from Kiwi Cat in the middle, connected yarn turns pink. Connect every square and light up every toy.
4. When every square is connected and no yarn end is left dangling, you clear the level.
5. Fewer turns earn more stars. Long-press a square you're sure about to lock it.

Controls

Phone and tablet

• Tap a square to turn its yarn; long-press to lock or unlock it.
• Hint and Restart are at the bottom. Top left goes back to the level list; top right pauses or mutes.

Computer

• Left-click to turn yarn, right-click to lock or unlock.
• You can also play with just the keyboard: arrow keys move the pink cursor, Space or Enter turns, L locks, H gives a hint, R restarts.

Tips and Strategy

• Start with the edges and corners. Squares against the wall can't have yarn pointing outward, so there's often only one way to turn them.
• A yarn end tied to a toy has only one exit, and two toys can never connect directly to each other (that would cut them off).
• Straight pieces only have two positions – two turns brings them back – so plan before you tap to save moves.
• Lock squares as soon as you're sure they're right, so you can't turn them by mistake later.
