About the Game

Kiwi Cat Box Slide is an original sliding block puzzle from Kiwi Cat Games. Kiwi Cat is sitting on a kiwi-slice cushion, boxed in by a pile of cardboard boxes. Each box can only slide along its own direction: long sideways boxes move left and right, upright boxes move up and down, and nothing can pass through anything else. Shift the boxes one by one until Kiwi Cat can slide out through the pink cat door on the right.

There are 60 levels. The easiest one takes just 2 moves; the hardest takes 33. Later levels add potted plants that can't be moved at all, so there are fewer paths to work with. The minimum number of moves for every level was found by a computer that tried every possible sequence, and escaping in that many moves earns 3 stars. A slide counts as one move no matter how far the box travels.

Stuck? Tap Hint: the glowing piece is the next one to move, and the dashed outline shows where it should go. Made a wrong move? Undo takes you back one step at a time. Every box, plant, room and sound effect was drawn or synthesized in code by Kiwi Cat Games, and your progress is saved in your browser.

How to Play Kiwi Cat Box Slide

1. Press Start Game, then choose Continue to play your current level or pick any unlocked level from the list.
2. Drag a box with your finger or mouse. Sideways boxes slide left and right, upright boxes slide up and down, and they stop when they hit something.
3. Kiwi Cat is the one on the green cushion and can only slide left and right. Clear every box that blocks its way to the right.
4. Slide Kiwi Cat all the way to the pink cat door on the right and it runs out – level complete!
5. Each slide is one move. Escape in the minimum number of moves shown at the top to earn 3 stars.

Controls

Phone and tablet

• Press and drag a box (or Kiwi Cat) with your finger. Let go and it snaps to the nearest square.
• Buttons at the bottom: Undo, Hint and Restart. Top left goes back to the level list; top right pauses or mutes.

Computer

• Click and drag a box (or Kiwi Cat). Let go and it snaps to the nearest square.
• You can also play with just the keyboard: Space selects the next piece (pink dashed outline) and the arrow keys slide it. U is Undo, H is Hint, R is Restart.
• Top left goes back to the level list; top right pauses or mutes.

Tips and Strategy

• Start by checking which boxes block Kiwi Cat's row, then work backwards: to move that box, what has to move first?
• The long upright boxes (3 squares) are often the key. They need to slide completely above or below Kiwi Cat's row to stop blocking it.
• Sliding the same box twice in a row still counts as one move, so sliding it all the way at once is the same as doing it in two steps.
• When you're stuck, use Hint for just one move and figure out the rest yourself – it feels better. Using a hint caps that level at 2 stars.
