About the Game
Meow Number Grid is a number logic puzzle with original artwork from Kiwi Cat Games. Some numbers are already on the board; your job is to fill in the rest so that every row, every column and every box outlined in bold contains each number from 1 to N exactly once. Select a square, then tap a number below to fill it in.
There are four difficulty levels: Starter 4×4 (1–4), Easy 6×6 (1–6), Normal 9×9 and Hard 9×9. Starter through Normal can be solved with basic logic alone – “only one number fits in this square” or “this number has only one place left in this row.” Hard calls for more advanced reasoning. There's also a 9×9 Daily Challenge, the same puzzle for everyone on the same day.
Unsure about a square? Turn on Notes and jot down the possible numbers. A wrong entry turns red and uses up one of your 3 chances per puzzle, and you can use up to 3 hints when you're stuck. Your best time for each difficulty is saved in your browser. Every puzzle is generated by the game and checked to have exactly one solution.

Controls
Phone and tablet
- Tap a square to select it, then tap a number below to fill it in.
- Tools at the bottom: Undo, Erase, Notes on/off and Hint. Top left goes back to difficulty select; top right pauses or mutes.
Computer
- Click squares and numbers with the mouse, or use the keyboard: arrow keys select a square and number keys fill it in.
- N toggles Notes, Backspace erases, Z undoes, H gives a hint.
Tips and Strategy
- Start with rows, columns or boxes that are already mostly filled – their empty squares are the easiest to pin down.
- Pick one number (say 5) and check where it can still go in each box. When only one spot is left, that's the answer.
- Tap a number that's already filled in and every matching number on the board lights up, making gaps easy to spot.
- On Hard, lean on Notes: write down every candidate for each square, then cross out the impossible ones one by one.
FAQ
Can I play a sudoku-style number puzzle online without downloading anything?
Yes – Meow Number Grid runs in your browser. Open this page and press Start Game on your phone or computer. No app, no sign-up.
Is Meow Number Grid free?
Yes, completely free. You get a fresh puzzle every time so you'll never run out, plus a Daily Challenge every day.
What are the rules?
Every row, every column and every bold box must contain each number from 1 to N exactly once – 1 to 4 on 4×4, 1 to 6 on 6×6 and 1 to 9 on 9×9.
Does every puzzle have only one solution?
Yes. Each puzzle is checked when it's created to make sure it has exactly one solution, so correct reasoning always gets you to the end. Starter, Easy and Normal can be solved with basic logic alone.
How do Notes work?
Tap Notes at the bottom to switch to note mode, then tap numbers to write small candidates in the square – this doesn't cost a chance. Turn Notes off when you're sure and fill in the answer. When you enter a correct number, matching notes in the same row, column and box are cleared automatically.
What is the Daily Challenge?
The Daily Challenge is a 9×9 Normal puzzle generated from today's date, so everyone gets the same one that day. The game keeps your fastest time for the day.
What ages is Meow Number Grid suitable for?
There's no violence or inappropriate content. The 4×4 Starter puzzles are great for kids, and the 9×9 Hard puzzles will keep adult puzzle fans busy.
